Nova Scotia Wildlife Track and Sign Workshop in Bridgetown Nova Scotia

byron murray will be hosting a 2 day workshop designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of wildlife tracking. Over the course of these sessions, participants will learn to identify, interpret, and understand animal tracks and signs in various habitats in the Bridgetown, Nova Scotia area.
The series will cover:
Introduction to Wildlife Tracking
Gain an overview of the history, importance, and applications of wildlife tracking in conservation, research, and recreation.Track and Sign Identification
Learn to recognize various animal tracks, including size, shape, and distinguishing morphological features. We will also explore other signs of wildlife presence, such as scat, markings, and nests.Measuring Techniques
Participants will learn and practice essential skills around how to measure tracks and track patterns, including track size, trail widths, stride lengths, along with tips for going beyond the measuring tape.Habitat and Behaviour
Understand the relationship between wildlife behaviour and their habitats. We will discuss seasonal patterns, migration, and the significance of environmental factors in tracking.
The series is suitable for individuals of all skill levels, from beginners to those looking to refine their tracking abilities. Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook for observations and insights, tape measure, and a camera for documentation. We will be going off trail in some untended forested environments, following the trails of wild animals.
Course Details :
Cost is $150 - $400 sliding scale per participant. Participants must be 18+ at the time of the workshop or accompanied by an adult. Participants can indicate at sign up whether they would like to be there for one or both days (please let me know which day if only picking one). We will be building on previous lessons from the day before, so both days is encouraged. Fees payable by e-transfer. Registration is confirmed when fee is paid. Maximum 12 participants. Locations will be shared via email two days prior to first outing.
